Panic has gripped residents of Òṣogbo, Osun State, following reports of sporadic gunfire and property destruction in Oke-Baale, Sasa, and Akede areas. The situation has sparked fear and outrage, with many calling for immediate intervention from the state government and law enforcement agencies.
According to Inside Osogbo, a popular X handle:
“Information reaching us has it that there is sporadic shooting currently happening around Oke-Baale, Sasa, and Akede Areas of Òṣogbo. We also write to inform the general public to stay safe and vigilant in the aforementioned axis.”
The unrest reportedly stems from the arrest of Nurudeen Alowonle, Osun State Park Manager and appointee of Governor Ademola Adeleke. Alowonle was allegedly found in possession of police ammunition, raising serious security concerns.
One X user, Sulaiman Gafar Blessing (@WESTCURATOR_), called attention to the incident, linking it to political developments in the state:
“This is the person that the Osun Government handlers and their sympathizers have been defending on the timeline since morning.
You wonder why the opposition keeps shouting every day. This person here is an appointee of the governor.
@Princemoye1, this man must not run away, sir.”
Another user, @RealAdeshina, echoed similar sentiments, describing the situation as dire:
“Nigeria Police, Osun State is under siege!
Demola Adeleke’s appointee, Nurudeen Alowonle, is on a rampage, turning our lives into a nightmare.
@PoliceNG @Princemoye1, we urgently need your intervention before it’s too late!”
In a chilling post, @salawueedris1 shared his fears while commending the swift action of the police:
“This is scary! I’m scared and shaking right now😭. Imagine a government appointee with live ammunition, ahh! Osun citizens are in d@nger💔.. God, please help us in Osun.
