This decision comes in the wake of allegations of corruption against the former executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Jalal Arabi, prompting the government to take decisive action.
Professor Usman, a respected Islamic scholar with academic credentials from the University of Madinah and Peshawar University in Pakistan, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His deep knowledge of Hajj operations, demonstrated during his tenure as Chairman of the Kano State Pilgrims Board, will be invaluable as he oversees the nation’s pilgrimage affairs. His successful management of the largest state pilgrim quota in Nigeria underscores his capability to lead NAHCON effectively.
The appointment is, however, subject to Senate confirmation. President Tinubu has expressed confidence in Professor Usman’s ability to serve with integrity, transparency, and a strong commitment to the nation’s interests.
