Ilobu-Ifon-Erin Crisis: Osun APC forces Adeleke to visit warring towns

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has finally visited the crisis-ravaged communities of Ilobu, Ifon and Erin following the outcry of the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress ( APC).

The three towns came under heavy attacks of communal militias on Thursday night over land disputes, an incident that led to fatalities and injuries of no fewer than 30 persons coupled with distruction of properties valued over N2 billion.

Since Thursday when the crisis started, many indigenes of the affected communities have been gasping for survival, with many seeking refugee and reliefs in religious places and neighboring towns and villages.

But despite the difficulties faced by the citizens, the state government of Osun has not deemed it fit to extend hands of succour to the troubled indigenes, a development affirming the low premium Governor Adeleke gives to the welfare and security of the people of the areas.

“Does it mean Governor Adeleke would not have come to our town if the people of the state, particularly the opposition party, have not mounted pressure on him to do so? It is disheartening to note that our well-being is nothing to the man we did everything to ensure he became the governor,” one of the displaced citizens seeking refuge in Osogbo complained.

Suleiman Adewale, another citizen who confirmed his younger brother was injured during the attack said, ” It is pathetic that it took Governor Adeleke five days before he could show up in our community. We learnt that he was supposed to meet our Kabiyesi and other traditional rulers whose towns were affected in the mayhem, but late changed his mind and directed the head of Amotekun Corps to represent him. Why should such an important meeting be delegated to the Field Commandant of Amotekun? That is the height of disrespect to our traditional rulers.”
