Testing the will of the court: Who are Gov. Adeleke’s Advisers? – By Ismail Omipidan

The popular saying, ‘Promises are like babies: easy to make, hard to deliver’ appears apt in situating what is currently playing out in Osun State, where our Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who promised to respect the rule of law, appears confronting the will of the court.

Before today, the argument from the PDP and the Government was that they had a subsisting judgement that gave them the legal leeway to conduct tomorrow’s election, against the sound legal opinion from the Chief Law Officer of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi.

However, the procurement of a ruling this afternoon from a state High Court by the government and the PDP shows a panicky measure to cure the defects they created by themselves by refusing to allow the court process run its course ab initio.

Expectedly, only they, are involved in this latest suit. Is that what the law says?

Well, I hope our business mogul and elder brother of our current Governor, Dr. Deji Adeleke, who had promised in July 2022 that he would be the first to address the press if his brother, our Governor, derailed in the administration of the state.

If what is currently playing out is not derailment, I wonder what it is . Otherwise, how can any reasonable mind assume that the State High Court ruling will override a valid judgement of the Appeal Court. If you like, abuse me. It would never stop me from bearing my mind on happenings in Osun. We all own it together. We all have equal stakes.

To all men and women of conscience, we must remind ourselves where we are coming from. It is time to think beyond party lines, and think Osun first, if indeed we are desirous of having a changed society.

I believe that it is not too late for Dr. Deji Adeleke to prevail on his brother to reconsider the dangerous path he is currently treading.

All of us, Osun citizens, whether you are for the PDP or APC, it is in our collective interest for Osun not to burn. God forbid, if it burns, we will all pay dearly for it. Our state will pay for it and our children will never forgive all of us.

Osun must survive beyond APC and PDP, and we all must play our part if we truly want Osun to survive.
