Former Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke (BANIK) has described as lies, allegations by the Osun State Commissioner for Government House and Protocol, Mr Olusoji Ajeigbe, that he led thugs to unleash mayhem on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Boripe Local Government on Monday.
BANIK said, the allegation was reckless and misleading to curry undue political sympathy, as he neither step on the soil of Boripe LG in the said day having been engaged in different media activities outside the area.
Ajeigbe had addressed the press in the premises of Boripe Local Governments on Monday, claiming that BANIK led thugs to unleash mayhem during resumption of council chairmen and councillors following the judgment of the Court of Appeal that validated their elections.
While reacting to the allegations, Prince Adeleke said, Ajeigbe was only being mischevious to curry undue sympathy and defame his name and character for no just cause.
According to him: “The accusations made by Ajeigbe against me was nothing but lies. As at the time he was referring to, I was answering questions on Western Television after which I joined Channels Television live and subsequently, Afinju Radio back to back to air my views on political situations in the state.
I later moved to Ilerioluwa campaign office to attend a press conference. I did not go to Boripe at all
“My locations at the time he was making reference to can be verified with the media organisations I mentioned unless Ajeigbe can prove otherwise, provide evidence of his allegations or tell the world how I can be present in two places at a time.
“Beside, Ajeigbe should be asked by reasonable people and security agencies why he himself was in the council secretariat on the said day, when he is not a councillor or council chairman.
“However, it is in the interest of Ajeigbe to be honourable enough to provide evidence of his imagination of me leading any thugs or retract his false statements.
“He should note that his failure to do the needful would attract legal action against him, as I will always toe the path of law in addressing issues, rather than resulting to violence or making reckless statement as done by Ajeigbe”, BANIK stated.
