OSUN 2026: Nothing Moves Unless It Is Moved – Tadese

Nature is married to two wives, ‘Posterity and History.’ Both of them have birth precedence and reference which are intimate friends of human actions. The political landscape in Osun State is already beginning to feel the ripples of the 2026 gubernatorial election. With the 2022 election still fresh in many people’s minds, it is clear that the stage is being set for a high-stakes battle, with all eyes on the opposition party in the State to provide credible alternative of the incumbent as one cannot forego sleeping because of the possibility of nightmares.

The phrase, “Nothing Moves Unless It Is Moved,” is often used to describe political momentum, will undoubtedly be my own motto as we approach the next election cycle because it’s resonates deeply with those that are looking for change. It is an assertion that the current government in Osun State led by Sen. Ademola Adeleke has failed to move Osun State forward as promised and expected.
For the people of Osun, this means that the status quo cannot simply be sustained without a genuine effort to spark real change. And for APC, it means that there is a determination to shift the direction of the state’s leadership in 2026.

However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) finds itself at a crucial crossroads as numerous groups and individuals are agitating and appealing to the party leadership to zone the party ticket to Osun West senatorial district, if our leader the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola not run for governorship again. This shall be a significant opportunity to strengthen our hold in the state, which I believe the apex leaders of the party have already noticed as longstanding oversight; giving the governorship ticket to Osun West Senatorial District. The region has consistently delivered the majority of votes for the progressive in the past elections, yet it has never produced a gubernatorial candidate from the party. The 2026 election offers a timely moment for the APC to right the wrong and reward the loyalty of Osun West by giving the ticket to the district if our leader, fmr Governor Oyetola drops the ticket and step down. But note; if Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola say he is still on the poll for governorship means that all hands is on deck for Ilerioluwa.

Osun West has long been a stronghold for the APC, consistently voting in favor of the party in general and state elections. This dedication has played a vital role in securing stability and more strength for the party in Osun. However, despite this massive support, the district has never been considered for the governorship position in the party. This omission is not only an oversight but also a missed opportunity to further solidify the party’s relationship with its most loyal constituency.

By giving the ticket to Osun West, I believe the APC would not only honor the contributions of the district but also to ensure that the party remains firmly rooted in the hearts of its most loyal supporters and tap into a well-established voting bloc that has consistently delivered the majority of the local governments’ votes for the party among the three senatorial district. It’s time for the party to ensure the district’s loyalty is rewarded with the chance to lead, reinforcing the party’s commitment to fairness, progress, and unity.

The people of Osun West have shown time and again that they are a reliable and strong political force behind the progressive party. It is only fair that they be given the chance to produce the next governor in APC. Without sentiment, a candidate from Osun West would have the backing of a solid electoral base and the ability to galvanize support across the state. This strategic move would help our party to maintain its dominance in the state and ensure a continued focus on progressive policies.

Furthermore, it is time for the party to demonstrate that it values the contributions of all parts of the state and is committed to ensuring that every region has a fair shot at leadership. Therefore, as the 2026 gubernatorial election looms, the leadership of the APC must heed to the appeal and the call to action: “Nothing Moves Unless It Is Moved.” It is time for the party to give the governorship ticket to Osun West, a region that has always shown their unwavering support for the progressive party. This move would not only honor the district’s loyalty but also paving the way for a prosperous future for the state.
