Oyetola Highlights Game-Changing NSW Project to Unlock Nigeria’s Maritime Potential

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has outlined bold reforms under the National Single Window (NSW) project aimed at transforming Nigeria’s trade facilitation processes and advancing the country’s blue economy. Addressing an esteemed gathering, the Minister emphasized the critical role of the NSW system in streamlining trade operations, promoting transparency, and unlocking the immense potential of Nigeria’s maritime sector.

Under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, the NSW system and the complementary Port Community System (PCS) are expected to revolutionize port operations, significantly reduce clearance times, and eliminate revenue leakages. These initiatives will position Nigeria as a global trade hub, enhancing the country’s competitiveness on the international stage.

The Minister also highlighted ongoing efforts to modernize ports, improve multimodal connectivity, and explore the establishment of a National Flag Carrier through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). These steps are integral to Nigeria’s ambition of becoming West Africa’s leading maritime hub, driving economic growth, creating jobs, and fostering global competitiveness.

“This is a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s maritime and trade sectors. With these reforms, we are not only building a robust blue economy but also securing Nigeria’s place as a global leader in trade and logistics,” Oyetola stated.

The NSW project and related initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to sustainable development and economic transformation, paving the way for Nigeria’s emergence as a powerhouse in the global maritime industry.
