Osun 2026: The Progressive Frontliners Intensify Their Rally for Equity, Justice, and the ‘West Lokan’ Agenda

As the political atmosphere in Osun State begins to heat up in anticipation of the 2026 gubernatorial election, The Progressive Frontliners (TPF), a grassroots movement within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has intensified its advocacy for equity, justice, and inclusion. At a press briefing marking the New Year, the group passionately rallied for the ‘West Lokan’ agenda—a push to ensure the Osun West Senatorial District is given the chance to produce the next governor.

The TPF, in a message that underscored the principles of fairness and egalitarianism, called on the APC leadership to zone the party’s gubernatorial ticket to Osun West. According to the group, this would not only address the decades-long marginalization of the district but also strengthen the party’s chances of reclaiming Osun from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking at the event, representatives of the group highlighted the unwavering loyalty of Osun West to progressive politics. Despite being overlooked since the return of democracy in 1999, the district consistently supported the APC, even during challenging elections. They cited the 2022 gubernatorial election as a testament to this loyalty, where Osun West ensured victory for APC in six of its ten local government areas, despite the PDP fielding a candidate from the district.

“It is time for the progressives to embrace the principles of equity and justice by giving Osun West the opportunity it has long been denied,” the TPF emphasized. “This region is home to capable leaders who can unify the state and steer it toward unprecedented development.”

The group noted that the ‘West Lokan’ agenda is not just a political demand but a reflection of the collective aspiration of the people for balanced representation. “This is about setting a precedent that every zone in Osun is valued and has an equal stake in governance,” they added.

In their goodwill message for the New Year, the TPF reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing support across the state, engaging stakeholders, and fostering partnerships to actualize the ‘West Lokan’ vision. A comprehensive letter of appeal has been addressed to the APC leadership at both state and national levels, urging them to prioritize zoning the ticket to Osun West as a strategic move for victory in 2026.

The group concluded the gathering with a call to action, urging all party faithful and supporters to unite behind the agenda and spread the message of inclusion and fairness. “Let this year be a turning point for progressives in Osun West. Together, we can reclaim our state and chart a course for lasting progress.”

As the journey toward 2026 unfolds, the rallying cry of ‘West Lokan’ is set to shape the narrative of Osun politics, with the TPF leading the charge for a fairer and more inclusive future.
