Why Police, DSS Should Investigate Adeleke’s CoS Akinleye Over Inciting Statement Against Opposition – Osun APC

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has knocked the Chief of Staff to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye for threatening the members of the leading opposition APC members in Ede, the hometown of Governor Ademola Adeleke on the forthcoming 2026 governorship election in the state as recorded in a video which has gone viral through the social media.

The bellicose Adeleke Chief of Staff who also assured his audience that the February 2025 local government council election was a done deal told the members of his party to continue to rejoice over the yet-to-be held local government council elections, signifying the readiness of the ruling government to rig the elections.

Akinleye who was speaking at a public forum in the ancient town of Ede on Saturday stated that his party, the PDP, would employ all possible means to secure the return of his boss, Governor Adeleke, in the 2026 election.

He warned that it would be better for the members of the APC in the town who would not cast their votes for the PDP candidate whom he believed to be Governor Adeleke to instantly relocate to Coutonu in The Republic of Benin

The Chief of Staff stated that any Ede native or resident who could not appreciate the level of the development that Governor Adeleke has attracted to the ancient town is not worthy to be in Ede during the period of the 2026 governorship election.

Akinleye explained further that there won’t be a safety guarantee for any member of the opposition party in Ede who might be staying in his house to evade casting his vote for Governor Adeleke’s second term return during the election.

It is a pity that a ranking political functionary of the calibre of the chief of staff to Governor Adeleke could descend so low to instigate violence with reference to the forthcoming 2026 governorship election.

It is now crystal clear that Governor Adeleke’s administration has been bedevilled with credibility problem because of the dearth of credible political functionaries to offer qualitative advice to the satellite governor.

The quality of the tirade oozing out from the malodorous mouth of the Adeleke Chief of Staff is a pointer to the fact that Akinleye is not only a misfit but a source of a monumental embarrassment and a disgrace to democratic ideal which allows choice of political association.

With the combative statement of Akinleye whose type could only become a Chief of Staff under the minimalist and inept administration like that of the rudderless ruling governor of Osun State, it is a perfect example of how to explain that the quality of a government cannot be better than the quality of those working in such administration.

If a Chief of Staff to a governor could be preaching violence over an election, one wonders the types of directives that would be emanating from his office to his subordinates in the running of the affairs of the state.

With this diatribe of Akinleye against the opposition, do we need to look elsewhere the reason for the proliferation of political thugs across the nooks and crannies of Osun State since the inauguration of the Adeleke-led administration over two years ago?

We, as a party, can observe that the belligerent, loquacious and diplomacy-defficient Governor Adeleke’s Chief of Staff is so carried away by the spoils of office to the extent that he is not lettered enough to know that the freedom of political association is an inalienable fundamental right of the people of this country of which the people of Ede are subset of.

The tyrannical, harsh and haughty Chief of Staff should be in the know of the fact that it is he and his co-travellers in the PDP that would have to relocate to Coutonu in Benin Republic during the forthcoming governorship election and not the APC members in Ede as it is pretty dangerous to keep his type among the community of rational human beings at any point in time.

It is based on the foregoing that we are appealing to the State Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Security(DSS) not to treat the threat of violence against the opposition by Akinleye with levity but invite, investigate and prosecute the chief of staff.

It would not be out of tune to hold Akinleye responsible by the statutory security services for any violent actions that may break out in any part of the state from the period he made the reckless and unguarded statement against the opposition as he has proved to be the godfather of political hoodlums who are ubiquitous in the state harassing, beating and maiming the peace-loving residents of the state.
