ICPC Tracks N610bn Constituency Projects Across Osun and Other States

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced the monitoring of constituency projects valued at N610 billion across 22 states, including Osun. This initiative, part of Phase 7 of the Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Exercise, is aimed at ensuring proper utilization of funds and preventing project abandonment.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ICPC spokesperson, Demola Bakare, revealed that the exercise would oversee 1,500 projects across the six geopolitical zones. States included in this phase are Kwara, Niger, Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory, Kebbi, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Lagos, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Cross River, Delta, Imo, Abia, and Enugu.

According to Bakare, the tracking exercise, which began on November 18, 2024, will cut across multiple sectors, such as education, health, agriculture, water resources, and power. It will also involve key intervention agencies, including the North-East Development Commission, the Niger Delta Development Commission, the Universal Basic Education Commission, and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, among others.

The ICPC stated that the initiative, launched in 2019, seeks to enforce adherence to due process in government projects, improve value for money, and ensure compliance with contract specifications.

In the previous phase, the commission tracked 1,900 projects worth N500 billion across 24 states, highlighting its continued efforts to promote transparency and accountability in public project execution.
