The Osun State Police Command has arrested the Chairman of Osun State Transport Management Committee, Mr Nurudeen Wakili popularly known as Alowonle.
Alowonle was arrested by the Anti Kidnapping Unit of Osun State Police command yesterday night over a petition on attempted murder and kidnapping by one Alhaji Alowonle.
A credible police source hinted this medium that Alowonle was arrested around Ring Road Osogbo, the state capital yesterday night, after intelligence that he assembled his gangs for unknown mission.
According to the source, when they sighted the police, they resisted the arrest but were later overwhelmed by the police force and before taking them to the police headquarters, another bus loaded with suspected armed thugs attacked the police and forcefully rescued Alowonle with handcuffs.
The source explained that he was later traced to Oke Baale where he was arrested with 9 others after engaging the police in gun duel and brought back to the scene of the crime where he escaped to search his vehicles.
When the police conducted the search, one Barret Pistol and live ammunition were recovered from his unregistered Highlander Jeep. When he noticed that he was in trouble, he attempted to escape again before he was shot by the police. He is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed teaching hospital.
However, the police has impounded the recovered vehicles including One Hummer Toyota Bus, Nissan Amira, Sienna Space Bus among others.
When contacted to confirm the arrest, the state Police Police Public Relation Officer, Mrs Yemisi Opalola was not available for comments and all efforts to reach her on phone were unsuccessful.
It would be recalled that Governor Ademola Adeleke in 2023 appointed Nurudeen as Chairman Osun State Transport Management Committee alongside Olalekan Ajagungbade (aka Emir).
