In a recent announcement from the State House, President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Adebowale Adedokun as the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
He also named two other new DGs and a Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications.
Dr. Adedokun, a highly accomplished procurement expert, has previously served as the Director of Research, Training, and Strategic Planning at the BPP, and brings decades of experience to his new leadership role.
As one of Nigeria’s foremost authorities in public procurement, he has actively participated in every major procurement reform in the country since 2004.
He holds an impressive array of academic and professional qualifications, earning his Ph.D. in Procurement Supply Chain Management from International University in Bamenda, as well as a Master’s degree from the University of Salford in Manchester, UK.
He also has Bachelor’s degrees from both Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomosho and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi.
Dr. Adedokun’s influence extends beyond Nigeria as he serves as the nation’s sole representative with the International Research Study on Public Procurement (IRSPP). He is also a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), underscoring his commitment to transparency and integrity in public service. His dedication to reform has been recognized by USAID, which awarded him the Certificate of Special Recognition in 2009 for his continuous contributions to public procurement.
