Segilola miners’re gangsters – Osun Gov’s aide

Claims company attempted to bribe officials to evade tax

Thors Explorations Limited, operating Segilola Gold mine in Osun State, has been warned to stop threatening the state government over its resolve to recover tax and benefits allegedly owed by the company.

In a press statement issued by media aide to Governor Ademola Adeleke, James Bamgbose, the company was slammed for attempting to bribe officials to evade its tax responsibilities and for declaring open war on Osun people, the legitimate owners of the gold deposits.

The release was a reaction to the company’s widely circulated statement which conveyed its determination to legally stop the Osun State Government from disrupting its mining operations.

Bamgbose, who doubles as the Osun state PDP deputy director of media, noted that Thors Explorations Limited was wilfully refusing to fulfil its obligations to the state government and the host communities.

He accused the company of acting like “corporate gangsters who prefer under-the-table deals than meeting legitimate obligations.

“A responsible corporate organization which is not under gangestric leadership would honestly engage and avoid attempts to bribe state officials to escape legitimate responsibilities,” Bamgbose stressed the bribery allegation against Segilola mining company.
