The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, cast his vote on Saturday at Polling Unit 001, Uwessan 1, Esan Central Local Government Area.
However, in Ward 1, Unit 3, Ewohinmi, located in the Edo Central Senatorial Zone, the polling unit of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Asue Ighodalo, officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had yet to arrive nearly three hours after the scheduled start time for accreditation.
Voters in the area were anxiously waiting, with some urging INEC to act quickly and send its officials to prevent further delays.
Elsewhere across the state, voting commenced at various wards and polling units in the Edo governorship election, which has captured the interest of political enthusiasts and citizens eager to witness a new leadership following Governor Godwin Obaseki’s eight-year tenure.
NaijaNexusNews reported that voting had begun at Governor Obaseki’s polling unit, Okemole 1/Emokpae Primary School, Unit 19, Ward 4, in Oredo Local Government Area (LGA).
At Ward 1, Unit 2, Egbere Primary School, INEC officials were present, and voting was underway. Similarly, at Ward 1, Unit 3, Egbele Primary School, Uromi, in Esan North East LGA, voters followed due process by checking the voters’ register before casting their ballots.
At Agbodo Primary School, Polling Unit 22, Iwegie, Oredo LGA, and Unit 21, Ward 4, Emokpae Secondary School, voters were actively participating in the election, casting their votes.
