A 12-year-old boy in Ekiti State has been ordered to be remanded in a juvenile home by an Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court after allegedly stabbing two brothers in the hand and shoulder. The incident occurred on August 10 in the Omi Olori area of Ado Ekiti.
Chief Magistrate Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, presiding over the case, ruled that the minor should be tried at a juvenile court due to his age and adjourned the case to August 16 for mention.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that the defendant not only assaulted the two siblings—Toheeb and Tajudeen Adeitan—but also caused damage to a Vivo handset valued at N19,000, belonging to Basiri Adeitan. Oriyomi added that the defendant’s actions were likely to disturb public peace.
The defendant, who pleaded not guilty, is facing charges that violate Sections 186, 421, and 181(d) of the Ekiti State Laws, 2021. His counsel, Mr. Gboyega Abiola, appealed for bail, assuring the court that his client would not abscond.
