Five Terrorists Neutralized, 44 Boko Haram Members Surrender

In a recent counter-terrorism operation in Borno State’s Bama Local Government Area, Nigerian Army troops successfully neutralized five terrorists and recovered a significant cache of weapons, including bombs, two rocket-propelled guns, and six motorcycles. The operation, conducted on August 12, 2024, is part of the ongoing efforts to curb insurgency in the region.

The Army also announced that 44 Boko Haram terrorists and their families surrendered to troops stationed in Bama, Dikwa, and Gwoza Local Government Areas, a result of sustained offensive operations against terrorist groups in the North-East.

In related operations, the Army apprehended Mallam Maawuya Shuaibu, a notorious cattle rustler, in Plateau State’s Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. Troops recovered 32 rustled cows during the arrest. Additionally, in Bayelsa State, a raid in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area led to the arrest of Mr. Donald Emason, with the recovery of a revolver pistol and two locally-fabricated guns.

The Army also captured Mohammed Bello, a suspected gun runner in Oyo State, who admitted to supplying arms to a notorious kidnap syndicate in the area. These operations reflect the Army’s ongoing commitment to restoring peace and security across Nigeria.
