The Bauchi State government has unveiled plans to rejuvenate its tourism sector to attract visitors globally. This announcement came from the Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, Abdul Hassan, during a meeting with the state’s tourism ambassadors on Thursday.
He highlighted the state’s commitment to unlocking its extensive tourism potential, mentioning significant projects like the renovation of the Yankari Game Reserve, which is now 50 percent complete. Solar power installation is expected to resolve previous issues with the national grid.
“These advancements herald a new chapter for tourism in Bauchi State, aiming to display its unique cultural heritage and natural beauty to the world,” the commissioner stated.
The Commissioner encouraged the ambassadors to promote Bauchi State’s tourism, sharing their experiences and highlighting the wonders of Yankari Game Reserve internationally.He also commended the general manager of Yankari Game Reserve for his visionary leadership in preserving and promoting the reserve’s natural and cultural significance.
Muhammad Yusuf, the General Manager of Yankari Game Reserve, emphasized the importance of tourism ambassadors in maintaining the operations of Yankari and other attractions.
He expressed confidence that with the state government’s current efforts, Yankari Game Reserve would become the state’s top revenue generator.
